From pen to pixel: a multi-medium approach to innovative design solutions
As a creative individual, I have always used pen and paper to communicate my ideas, but I have adapted and improved my mediums over time to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality. Although graphics design is not my primary focus, it is a core skill that I utilize in all my design projects, whether it involves creating interiors or campaigns, to effectively showcase my ideas to clients. In addition, I have developed a passion for black ink fine liner art, which I have cultivated for years and seamlessly integrated into various client projects, adding an extra layer of creativity and uniqueness to my work.
Hand Sketching
For the quicker concept creation process, nothing beats traditional hand sketching of idea. Pen and paper is where I start the majority of my designs.
Ipad - ProCreate
ProCreate is an indispensable tool in my design workflow, providing seamless colour integration, adapt to feedback with ease and easy sharing without scanning.
SketchUp
When precision and a sketchy aesthetic are both important, SketchUp is the perfect tool for the job. Its fast workflow makes it easy for me to create and iterate on designs during the ideation phase.
Photoshop
Photoshop is a must-have tool for designers looking to create or edit sketches, illustrations, and design ideas. With the ability to experiment with colour, texture, and composition, I can bring my ideas to life in new and exciting ways
QUICK CONCEPT SKETCHING
Here are some hand draw sketch concepts with some simple grey copic markers to highlight the outlines.
Here is a concept scamp page from design deck. The sketches were created in SketchUp and then overlayed together in Photoshop to add some character to the page.
Before refining the designs in 3D, I created several sketch scamps to ensure that I accurately translated the client's ideas into the final product.
INTERIOR SKETCHES
Here I have shown several sketches that I did for adidas. The client wanted to keep the designs and visuals in a sketchy style to keep some character.
Using several SketchUp exports and ProCreate I created some fun sketchy visuals to create a softer aesthetic.
ART AND ILLUSTRATION
I had an enjoyable illustration project in which I designed a skateboard with a laser-etched design for a client. The objective was to convey the client's life story through a single piece of artwork. Although the design features various personal touches and subtle references specific to the client, it also works as a piece of portrait art.
or this piece of art I had to overlay several personal elements with some nods to Jordan Brand. The
The art work was created using pen and paper but with graphical overlays using Adobe illustrator and photoshop.
