We were tasked by the Jordan Brand team with creating the retail design directive for the Jordan Mars 270. Given only a marketing deck and product shots to work with, we developed a creative concept that was then adapted for use throughout Europe and other territories.

Our deliverables included visualizations of pinnacle and tier 2 retail elements, retail and online photography crops, graphic hierarchies, lock-up use, materials boards, and a final brand presentation/template.

CREATIVE PROCESS

With only this image as our starting point, we identified the key elements that would inform the design of the Jordan Mars 270: the iconic Air bubble, concrete texture, and heritage iconography. To ensure that our concept would resonate with audiences across all territories, we worked to expand and simplify these elements in our creative approach.

Here is video that I created purely for fun after completing the project. I used 3DS Max to 3D model a highly detailed model of the Mars 270. But that's not all – I also animated all of the iconography elements from the campaign, bringing them to life.

To really capture the spirit of the project, I decided to go all out with an 80s retro vibe. My inspiration came from the iconic Mars Blackmon character, famously played by Spike Lee in the classic film 'She's Gotta Have It' back in 1986. I wanted to pay homage to that iconic era of style and pop culture.

With its bold colors, eye-catching designs, and funky music, this video is sure to transport you back in time to an era of neon lights and big hair. But even if you're not a child of the 80s, I think you'll appreciate the artistry and creativity that went into bringing this project to life.
